When you give your everything, anything can happen

During the 2012 London Olympic Games, over 10,000 athletes gathered in London to test their stamina and skills with other contestants. Every four years, these Olympians teach the world many lessons—we see tears of joy for winning gold, and singing national anthems with pride, and tears of sadness for touching the finish line micro seconds behind the gold medalist.

Michael Phelps, an American swimmer, won 16 Olympic medals: six of them gold, and two bronze in Athens in 2004 and eight gold medals in Beijing in 2008. I was reading an interesting article as to what made him different from other swimmers and how he managed to capture so many gold medals.

I was surprised to read that Phelps learned a trick or two from other underwater inhabitants, like dolphin, and used backstroke dolphin kick to make the big difference.

Lesson #1:

Learn to do things which make the difference in your life and business. Another sport I always admired is TRIATHLON where competitors have to develop skills in 3 disciplines — swimming, cycling and running, a combination which takes longer to master. Likewise if you want to be successful in NETWORK MARKETING, you have to be Triathlete and master the 3 disciplines— prospecting, team building, and leadership.

Here I would like to mention one of the greatest Olympic triathlon from Canada, Simon Whitfield. Whitfield competed in every Olympic triathlon since its games debut in 2000, where he stunned the world with his gold medal in Sydney Olympics.
At age 11, he started training himself to become triathlete and as of 2008, 1:48:24.02 stands as the fastest Olympic triathlon record. At age 37, Simon qualified for the 2012 London Olympics in Triathlon. If there is one thing Simon has proven over his athletic career, it’s that when you give your everything, anything can happen.

Lesson #2:

Raise your own bar to get better. Are you giving your everything to achieve the success you are looking for?

Network marketing is a unique opportunity, which can secure one’s financial future. The most amazing thing about network marketing is that it can be practiced by all. It does not discriminate between color, age, education or experience—this is why it is called “free enterprise”, a business of equal opportunity. Network marketing provides people with endless opportunities and possibilities.

Network marketing business model is simple and doable by anyone who is ready to change and willing to work hard to grow the business. It makes an ordinary person extraordinary. One can select one’s own business partners, and own time and place to do the business. The business provides you joy, adventure, and complete satisfaction.

You Are What You Think

I am sure you must have heard the cliché before that you are what you think, you are what you say, you are what you do, and finally you are what you attract and become

Let’s start a normal day--you get up in the morning with positive thoughts and say to yourself before you put your feet on the floor, “it’s going to be a wonderful day!” and your positive thoughts with affirmation will make your day wonderful. On the other hand, if you get up with negative thoughts, chances are that you will have a bad day. The big dilemma is how to think and remain positive.

It is not easy to always think positively and do positive things when the news we hear or read and the people who surround us are negative—these factors continuously affect us. If you want to be positive, you have to work hard, very hard. In my opinion, your positive thoughts and actions are directly connected with people and environment.

You do have control over people, for example your friends. If you see they affect you negatively, stay away from them. The challenge rather is to find new positive minded friends and they are not easy to find! These people look at life with enthusiasm and happiness, are grateful for what God has given them, they live in the present, they are fun loving and enjoy life, and to them hearing no is not a rejection, but next opportunity. It is your task to make efforts to find such people. Your environment includes your job, and the city you live in. It is difficult to change these two overnight. But if your job gives you negative vibes, it is time to move and look for a new job.

In my case, my last job had both negative people as well as negative surroundings. I used to drag myself every morning to work, but I promised myself that I will find a way to get out of my depressing situation. Thank God, it took me almost 4 years to find my new life and my personal freedom through DXN Network Marketing system.

Now, I love both the people I work with and the highly positive environment I am immersed in. Before I had a corporate job involving the regular 40 hours per week, and the hours felt like never ending hours. Today, I work more than 50 hours per week and I still feel I should give more and that is what I call labor of love. The best part of my work is that I am not only working for myself, but for others too. I am trying my best to make a difference in the lives of others, seeing them come out of their health and financial issues, and above all, I enjoy the smile of pure happiness. It is a business where you help many get what they want, you automatically get what you want. It is a win-win formula.

After being involved in this wonderful network marketing industry for over a decade, I have found that if you are positive and work with positive people in a positive environment, you are bound to be happy and successful. Bottom line, life is what you make of it and it is purely in your hand—it is up to you how you choose your thoughts and plan your actions. If you want happiness in your life, you need to work on your thoughts. Only you and you alone can set these high standards for yourself. Be positive and create positivity around you!

Importance of Coaching and Mentoring

Importance of Coaching and Mentoring
in Network Marketing

Having coached thousands of networkers globally, I firmly believe that without proper guidance in this wonderful business, it is difficult to succeed. Why? Unlike traditional business, which offers BBA and MBA program, in network marketing there are no degree programs or diplomas.

Trained as an aerospace engineer, I was clueless about building a network marketing business. I quickly realized that in order to succeed I had to educate myself. I was fortunate to come across Networking Times and started attending their live webinars in January 2004. I listened to top leaders like Tom Schreiter, Mark Yarnell, and Randy Gage. I was fortunate that Dr. Josephine and Chris Gross connected me to a few of these MLM gurus. Tom Schreiter, among several others, became my mentor as well as a good friend.

It does not matter which profession you belong to, you must reflect on your practice. As a flying instructor, I regularly encouraged my students to find two areas in which they were doing well and two areas that still needed improvement. As a network marketing coach, I have noticed that this kind of reflection helps you become more committed to your goals. Consistent feedback and exchange with your mentor will grow faster than you can imagine.

Mentors are highly successful leaders who have enough knowledge and experience to guide and support others. A mentor is like a lighthouse—easy to spot.

Salient features of mentors include:
  • Excellent teaching skills.
  • Positive and fun-loving attitude.
  • Honesty and trustworthiness.
  • Generosity and selflessness.
  • Straight-forwardness, open to talk about weaknesses and mistakes.
  • Strong role model and motivator.
  • Parent-like figure who wants mentees to surpass their success and is not envious of others’ achievements.
Employees have a boss they are accountable to for their daily and monthly tasks. In network marketing, no one has a boss to report to, which is one of the reasons why most people fail. Those who have mentors are most likely to thrive. Mentors make sure to show their mentee where they are making mistakes or why they are plateauing in their business.

Network marketing revolves around leaders who work on duplication and multiplication. This can only be achieved if enough leaders are created in an organization. In order to create one leader, hard work is required, including proper coaching and mentoring.

Once you become successful, your job is to help others become successful. After achieving your dream life in network marketing, start giving to others who need your education and guidance. If more successful networkers teach and coach, our profession will be much stronger. Only through proper education and mentorship can we raise the flag of network marketing high.

Helping Nepali Earthquake Victims

Nepal is a beautiful country with beautiful people. I have experienced the beauty of Nepal by visiting it four times --from Pokhara to Kathmandu to Everest. I found the Nepalese humble, warm, and very resilient. Today, unfortunately, after 8 days of a 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit Nepal, over 7000 are dead, 14000 are injured, more than 8 million have been affected, 3 million people are in need of food aid. 130,000 houses have been destroyed, and 24,000 people are now living in makeshift camps. It saddens my heart to see the beautiful valleys and many cities and towns completely devastated by this calamity.
From around the world, aid workers have arrived, providing medical assistance to the survivors, and digging out people from the rubbles. Thousands are sleeping in the open in the make shift tent. The fate of many in the valleys is still not known, where help has not even reached. I recognize the toughness and resilience of Nepalese, and I am positive they will come out of this hardship, but right now they need all our help. Please reach out to all the Nepali in general and DXN members in particular (which are in hundreds of thousands, mostly in Gulf and Malaysia), and empathize and comfort them in this hour of need. Let us all join hands and help our Nepali brothers and sisters so that they come out of this hard time.

No doubt there are many countries and independent organizations (for example, www.unicef.org.uk and The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) Nepal Earthquake Appeal) that are sending aid to Nepal, but I feel their efforts will not be enough to build what is lost and destroyed. They need much more than aid. I have heard people feeling sorry for Nepal and its’ people—right now, in addition to sympathy, they need our urgent monetary help. My appeal to all of you is to give something, $1 or a dirham, or whatever you can give, because at this point, every penny counts. It will go towards building lives of millions who have lost everything in just 20 seconds (that was the duration of earthquake—and that is what the might of Mother Nature ).

Like other organizations, DXN has embarked on a Special Charity Donation to Nepal Earthquake Fund, where you can donate from your May bonus, or simply fill out the form and donate the money at any DXN office around the world.

Please contact your nearest DXN Branch to obtain the form :

We all pray that the hard times of Nepali in Nepal are over soon. Amen.

Good Morning 2015 !

As 2014 ends, most people will again write a list of wishes and resolutions for 2015. I have a simple question for you about your 2014 goals, “How many of those resolutions did you accomplish and how many did you not?” you could not?” I was reading an article written by Darren Hardy, and thought to share his goals for 2015.
Here’s WHY goal-setting is important for you to have the best ever 2015:
Years ago when I attended the funeral of
Paul J. Meyer, I was reminded of how full, rich and diverse a life he led. He achieved, experienced, and contributed more than the lives of average 20 people combined. Reading his obituary made me reassess the speed, quantity and sheer size of the goals I want to set for myself.
If Paul were here, he would tell you the reason for the quality and quantity of his successes came down to one skill: setting, sticking to and staying committed to BIG goals. In fact he wrote one of the first programs on the topic called “The Dynamics of Personal Goal-Setting.” I will share a couple of ideas with you that have come from my studies and practices of this program.
The Two Common Traits of Super Achievers
I am often asked what common traits I observe as I interview and get to know many of today’s super achievers. The answer is easy because those common factors are shared by nearly 100 percent of top achievers. They are:
1) A relentless commitment to constant learning and;
2) Clear goals expressed in a beautifully crafted document detailing their plans to achieve them.
Business 101: Goal Setting
You’ve probably read about the Harvard study below, but it’s worth reviewing again as we dedicate some significant time and energy to our decision to get serious about designing the life we want to lead.
Mark McCormick in his book What They Don’t Teach You at Harvard Business School tells of a Harvard study conducted between 1979 and 1989.
In 1979, graduates of the MBA program were asked to set clear written goals for their future and their plans to accomplish them. It turned out only 3 percent of the graduates had written goals, 13 percent had goals but they were not in writing and 84 percent had no specific goals at all–aside from getting out of school and enjoying the summer.
Ten years later, in 1989, the researchers again interviewed the members of that same graduating class. They found that the 13 percent who had goals that were not in writing were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84 percent of students who had no goals at all. Most surprisingly, they found that the 3 percent of graduates who had clear, written goals were earning, on average, 10 times more than 97 percent of their graduating class. The only difference between the groups was the clarity of goals they had set (and spelled out) for themselves when they graduated.
Now if you knew that stretching several hours out over eight weeks to devote to strategic goal-setting could multiply the results in your life by 10—surpassing the accomplishments of your peers, competitors, family members and neighbors—and produce 10 times more than what you are likely to achieve without defining your goals on paper—would you do it? Would it be worth it?
Note: My next blog will be “Goals for Networkers”.

My Success Story

DXN has been a blessing. Prior to, I was in the field of aviation working as an Aeronautical engineer for over 28 years. The job was fine but there was no time, financial or travel freedom. I entered DXN as a consumer due to the health problems I suffered from for 10 years, and while using the products, realized there was more to DXN than health benefits through the DXN successful entrepreneurs whom I met along the way.
From working for someone and having a boss to becoming my own boss was a wonderful transformation. And that was the start of my journey to personal freedom.

Now, 9 ½ years later, my life has completely changed, all praise is due to Allah who has bestowed me with such blessings.

Many people ask me about my secret to success. It is difficult to state all the factors, but all success is an outcome of overcoming challenges. Still, there are a few points worth mentioning...

Leaders are Readers

We have heard so many times that leaders are not born but made. How leaders are made and what they do, others don’t?  Out of myriads of leadership traits, all great leaders are avid readers. Reading inspires them with ideas & fills them with enthusiasm and energy. Most CEOs of Fortune 500 companies read an average of 4 books a month.

Leadership is a discipline and is all about leading. But the question is how to lead? One of the best ways to do this is by reading. Let me be frank to share that after my engineering degree in 1979, I only read technical books and that too because of my job. Now I read at least one book every month. If you want to make a difference and become a successful leader, read at least 5 pages per day and you will see the difference.

In DXN there are lots of leaders who are not highly educated but have improved themselves tremendously. My friend Chris Gross from Networking Times University says “Education changes everything”-so true.  Reading and education go hand in glove. After over 9 years in DXN, I have learned a few things in the area of business and personal growth. Thanks to DXN.

Facing the Enemies Within by Jim Rohn

We are not born with courage, but neither are we born with fear. Maybe some of our fears are brought on by your own experiences, by what someone has told you, by what you've read in the papers.

Some fears are valid, like walking alone in a bad part of town at two o'clock in the morning. But once you learn to avoid that situation, you won't need to live in fear of it.

Fears, even the most basic ones, can totally destroy our ambitions. Fear can destroy fortunes. Fear can destroy relationships. Fear, if left unchecked, can destroy our lives. Fear is one of the many enemies lurking inside us.

Let me tell you about five of the other enemies we face from within. The first enemy that you've got to destroy before it destroys you is indifference. What a tragic disease this is. "Ho-hum, let it slide. I'll just drift along." Here's one problem with drifting: you can't drift your way to the top of the mountain.

The second enemy we face is indecision. Indecision is the thief of opportunity and enterprise. It will steal your chances for a better future. Take a sword to this enemy.

The third enemy inside is doubt. Sure, there's room for healthy skepticism. You can't believe everything. But you also can't let doubt take over. Many people doubt the past, doubt the future, doubt each other, doubt the government, doubt the possibilities and doubt the opportunities. Worst of all, they doubt themselves. I'm telling you, doubt will destroy your life and your chances of success. It will empty both your bank account and your heart. Doubt is an enemy. Go after it. Get rid of it.

The fourth enemy within is worry. We've all got to worry some. Just don't let it conquer you. Instead, let it alarm you. Worry can be useful. If you step off the curb in New York City and a taxi is coming, you've got to worry. But you can't let worry loose like a mad dog that drives you into a small corner. Here's what you've got to do with your worries: drive them into a small corner. Whatever is out to get you, you've got to get it. Whatever is pushing on you, you've got to push back.

The fifth interior enemy is over-caution. It is the timid approach to life. Timidity is not a virtue; it's an illness. If you let it go, it'll conquer you. Timid people don't get promoted. They don't advance and grow and become powerful in the marketplace. You've got to avoid over-caution.

Do battle with the enemy. Do battle with your fears. Build your courage to fight what's holding you back, what's keeping you from your goals and dreams. Be courageous in your life and in your pursuit of the things you want and the person you want to become.

Problem Solving
To solve any problem, there are three questions to ask yourself:
First, what could I do?
Second, what could I read?
And third, whom could I ask?

The real problem is usually two or three questions deep. If you want to go after someone's problem, be aware that most people aren't going to reveal what the real problem is after the first question.
Never attack a problem without also presenting a solution.
The best place to solve a problem is on paper.

And the Oscar goes to….

We recently saw the 84th Academy Awards. Lots of movies were nominated; The Descendants, Midnight in Paris, Moneyball, The Artist, Hugo and War Horse and the Oscar went to….

You must be thinking what has DXN and our business to do with the Academy Awards.
I had read an article by John David Mann many years ago, where he spoke about Network Marketing at the Oscars. There are good movies and there are Oscar nominated movies.  The good thing about these movies is that there are always some message, which we can use in our life and business. Oh, I love watching good movies. Films, every Networker ought to see are as follows :
1. Door to Door (2002). An amazing story about the real life business: who you are and not what you sell.
2. The Last Samurai (2003). One of the famous movies in which Tom Cruise has a stick fight with his opponent and is badly beaten. But later practices the skills and when he encounters the master Samurai fighter again, this time the fight ends in a tie. He could achieve this level of excellence because of his practice and focus, which led to him being on par with his powerful opponent.
3. Glengarry Glen Ross (1992). The movie revolves around cold calling, which every Networker fears from.
4. Mumford (1999). In our business, listening intently is one of the skills everyone should have. This movie deals with listening and why it is so important in our life.

The 84th Academy Award went to the silent movie; “The Artist” and in the entire movie, Jean Dujardin hardly uttered any words and yet got the best leading actor award. What gave him this big award---his expressions and body language. At the end of the day, it is your body language which counts, people see you, not what you say or sell but how you say it and more importantly what intention you have behind those words.
Enjoy watching good movies and you will always find some message which you can get connected to.

How to Squeeze the Most Out of Your Time

I read the following article and loved it, thus I have shared the article here :

How to Squeeze the Most Out of Your Time
by Brian Tracy

How do you start your day? Years ago I started planning mine by writing everything down I would have to do, the night before. I found that drawing up your list the night before prompts your subconscious to work on your plans and goals while you sleep. When you wake up, you feel ready to tackle your challenges.

When prioritizing and planning your time, consider the following points :

Key Questions
What is the highest value-added action I can do?
What can I, and only I, do that I've done well before to make a difference?
Why am I on the payroll?
The answers to these questions help identify all that needs to be done and in what order. That, in turn, will bolster personal productivity.

Values
Decide what's important to you, and in what order. Make sure your values don't conflict with work. Energy spent worrying diminishes your abilities.

Consequences
Every action has consequences, good and bad. Consider what rewards you'd reap by completing a task. Then, compare those rewards with the consequences of putting it aside. This process makes it easier to see which goals have a higher value.

The Pareto Principle
Vilfredo Pareto, a 19th-century engineer, argued that 20% of what you do accounts for 80% of the value. When considering the importance of a task, ask yourself whether it's among the 20% that creates the most value.

Urgency vs. Importance
An unexpected phone call or a drop-in visitor may be urgent, but the consequences of dealing with either may not be important in the long run.
The urgent is other-oriented; it's caused by someone else. Important things are self-directed and have the greatest value for you.
The Limiting Step
Standing between you and what you want to achieve is the limiting step. That's the bottleneck that determines how quickly you can reach your goal. It's important to identify that step and focus single-mindedly on getting that one thing done.
A Written Plan
Lists of goals, tasks and objectives are of no help unless they're written. Putting your plans on paper makes a seemingly elusive goal more concrete. There's a connection that takes place between the brain and the hand. When you don't write it down, it's fuzzy, but as you write it and revise it, it becomes clear.

Visualization
See yourself doing what you need to get done. Visualization trains the subconscious to focus on completing tasks. Say, for example, that you want to begin each morning by exercising. Visualizing yourself doing sit-ups and push-ups the night before conditions the mind to do those the next day. When you prime you mind, it wakes you up even before the alarm clock goes off.
Remember, you are a winner and preparation goes a long way in helping you achieve all your goals.

SMART GOALS AND STEPS TO ACHIEVE THEM

Today is 1st February and those who had made resolution and goals, should know where they stand after 31 days of goal setting. If you haven’t made your goals yet, it is high time you do it - not for anybody else but for YOURSELF.

In life, goal setting makes the difference between success and failure

Some people ask me, what is goal?

Napoleon Hill, author of the bestseller, Think and Grow Rich defines goal as, “a goal is anything that you want to do, be, have, or achieve”

The other common question people ask is, “Why set goals?”

Simple answer, goals provide direction, definiteness of purpose and motivation. I would like to share some interesting data on goals. In a famous Harvard study, it was found that the 3% of people who wrote down their goals and planned how to achieve them, earned more than the other 97% combined.

If you want to set goals, please follow Peter Drucker SMART goal formula. Every letter in SMART gives you a clear goal setting methodology.

Next thing in goal setting is to follow the 7 goal steps:

Wish you all the best in your goal setting and manage it well.

Happy goal setting.

My Own Goal Setting

How did I achieve my goal???

A lot of people have asked me as to how did I come to this level in my business : Executive Senior Crown Diamond. It took me a while just to say those words right, leave alone the benefit I am getting from it.

Simple answer : Made my goal and stuck to it.

My goal setting story is interesting.  Joined DXN in March 2003, only focused on my health goal, saw the benefit, got it and then in September 2003, came on the business. In December 2003, I was fortunate to meet Dr. Lim at the first recognition night in Abu Dhabi. I only asked him one question “How to become successful in business?” having the underlying thought of making DXN a full time business.

Dr Lim gave me 3 secrets, consume the products & become the product of the product, be laser focused on the business & do not look left and right and take care of the people who join your team. Simple tips but when applied, changed my life. Please note that at that time, I was working full time in my job and doing DXN part time.

My journey from January 2004 to January 2005 was an uphill one; learning about DXN products, focusing on MLM business, evaluating my strength and weakness. But throughout my journey, I had a definite plan and goal. Lots of hours were spent to achieve the status of Star Diamond.

In 2005, I made my short term goal to do DXN business full time from 2007 and THAT WAS the crucial decision of career shift. The 2 years after that was tough. When I say tough, I mean real tough—lot of learning MLM through Networking Times, traveling 1000s of kilometer every month, talking to lot of people one to one and over the phone and worst, facing a multitude of rejections. But in doing all this, I never deterred from my goal.

I am thankful to God, Dr Lim, all the DXN staff, my dedicated team leaders/members and my supportive family for making that goal happen in 2007. Mind you, it did not happen overnight and it did not happen by luck. It took concerted efforts with a well defined short & long term goals. Since January 2007, I never looked back. It is exactly 5 years and I am enjoying every moment of it.

My advice to all : write your SMART goal and stick to it, it may take longer than you expect but you will arrive at your destination sooner than not writing any goal at all.

Happy Goal Setting...
